The Centre for Innovation in Sustainable Manufacturing, Centro de Inovação em Manufatura Sustentável (portuguese), ou simply CIMS, is a reseacher group que visa a melhora dos processos de Fabricação Mecânica afim de obter resultados que permitam a popularização de componentes manufaturados.
In 2007, Prof. Lincoln Brandão created inside the Federal University of São João del Rei (UFSJ), the Research Group in Moulds e Dies, (Grupo de Pesquisa em Moldes e Matrizes – GPMM). In 2010, following the needs of the machining processes, the GPMM was renamed to Research Group in Sustainable Manufacture (Grupo de Pesquisa em Manufatura Sustentável – GPMS). At this time, the GPMS has initiated studies beyond those of moulds e dies, likes biomaterials, composites, and others, heritage by means of new technologies. In 2015, the group was renamed again due to its growth. Now, the Centre for Innovation in Sustainable Manufacturing (Centro de Inovação em Manufatura Sustentável – CIMS) develops researches in several manufacturing segments.
